Howdy, everyone, and thanks for stopping by!
News & Updates
We've made much headway over the winter and spring, including adding new products, launching this website, and adding some new staff! We have two new faces that have join the GZ team: one is helping with internal business operations and leads marketing initiatives, and the other is our hands-on processing expert and leads product development. These two have been nothing short of an incredible addition to the team that makes this whole farm come together. We couldn't be more thankful for the both of them.
Plus, with those personnel additions, we've also expanded our inventory. We have 7+ varieties of tomatoes, 5+ different types of peppers (both sweet and spicy), and so. many. flowers. We have calendulas, snapdragons, and many more pollinators that make beautiful additions to any garden.
Events
We're also holding our in-person plant sales every other Thursday from now until October because of the huge positive response we've received since starting. If you find yourself around the Burnaby/New West area every other Thursday (starting June 15th) at 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, stop by our Canada Way location to pick up tomato plants, flowers, and other awesome additions to your garden that wow guests and help out your local pollinators.
We are also delighted to announce that we will also attend the New West Farmer's Market every other Thursday too! Starting June 8th from 3 pm to 7 pm, we'll be at our special booth decked out with seedlings and plant starters at all stages to add to your own gardens. We even have some secret surprises for those that visit us in person. Food vendors and other merchants show off their own wares too -- all within your local community. Come on down and see what we got!
Recipe
We also had several people in our Veggie Posting group on Facebook share their salad dressing recipes during May. As it was International Salad Month, this elated us to know how our current CSA subscribers were using the lettuces and other greens in their daily meals.
And as a special treat, we'll be sharing a few of those with you throughout the upcoming weeks.
Here's the first one for our Herbed Lemon Dressing from our new Product Development Lead, Alex T.
"It's a really simple and easy-to-make dressing that's crisp, bright, and summer friendly. It doesn't have any eggs or dairy, so it's vegetarian friendly. People can also substitute the honey for sugar to make it vegan, if they want. It's a really versatile dressing that goes with so much in a salad or even a marinade for chicken or fish." - Alex T.
Serves 4 appetizer salads or 1 really big salad for fewer.
Ingredients
1/2 lemon, zested and juiced
1 lime, zested and juiced
3 spring garlic green thinly sliced widthwise
2tsp of honey/sugar/sugar
1 sprig oregano, destemmed and minced
salt and pepper
Method
1. Stir well until combined.
2. Allow to rest in the fridge for 15 minutes.
3. Can keep up to a month in the fridge.
We'll be back next week with another recipe for Roasted Beet and Carrot Salad.
